My MFA Journey

I have spent the last two years working solidly on my MFA at the National Art School, Sydney. It has been a journey of self discovery, new friendships and the building of skills.
My research shares a personal story of growing up surrounded by conflict in a 1970’s Northern Ireland. I want my work to express childhood memories of happiness and fear at the same time.
I started this journey with a large expressive drawing which I cut into smaller compositions. These compositions then inspired a series of small steel sculptures. These sculptures developed, transformed and influenced the final and major work of my project.

The final work is a large immersive sculpture; an installation engaging all of the senses. It evokes my childhood memories and allows others to do the same.

I have put together a small slide show to portray the journey.
